Insurance Brokership concept has been introduced in India by Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDAI). An insurance broker is an independent intermediary representing the client and to protect the policyholders’ interests both in Life and General Insurance with all the companies operating within India, whereas an Insurance Agent / Marketing Officer represents only a particular Insurance Company.

IRDAI follows strict guidelines and a rigid selection process in granting license to any individual or company to act as an Insurance broker.
